Quality, Reality, Interactivity: Strategies of Post-Network Television

Monday 6 May–the day before this masterclass–prof. Feuer will give a lecture on Musical Television: Glee, Smash and the Backstage Musical on TV.
This masterclass focuses on different strategies to deal with the increasing competition that television faces in the Post-Network and convergence culture era. It invites MA and doctoral students who are interested in Quality Television, Reality TV or Social TV to explore their subjects from a different perspective and discuss them as strategic genres and forms to legitimate television, reduce costs or address a particular audience.
After an introduction by Jane Feuer, a number of workshop participants will present their research followed by a general discussion.
This master class is primarily directed to Research MA and doctoral students in Media, Communication and Cultural Studies at Dutch Universities. Interested students of Master Programmes in the same area and interested colleagues are also welcome to register.

- Deadline for submission of a proposal for a short paper presentation (15 minutes) is April 22, 2013 (email to K.F.vanEs@uu.nl). Paper proposals should be 500 words maximum (incl. literature, a short biographical statement and contact information)
- Readings for the master class will be distributed in advance
- Participation in the master class is free of charge
- Credits on request
